Beacon of Hope

“Lighthouses don’t go running all over an island looking for boats to save; they just stand there shining.”

Sometime last December I decided to share my photography adventures and erratic ramblings on the blogosphere.

“What?! Sharing stuff with complete strangers?!! Are you mad…”, my inner cynic blubbered.

“Silence! I’m gonna do this!”, shouted the B+ve blood soaring in my veins.

Like a newbie swimmer testing the waters, I dipped my toes into the blogging ocean, found the water temperature to my liking and plunged headon, to write and post. A few strokes out and I was floundering in waves of all the stuff that threatens to drown the rookie bloggers….themes, Gravatars, widgets, menus, about pages, etiquette of commenting, social network, roundups, editorial calender etc. etc.

“Bitten off more than you can chew!”, gleefully crooned the cynic, “quit while you are still ahead…”

NOT YET. The Daily Post Zero To Hero came to my rescue. I happily splashed towards this beacon of hope everyday as soon as I logged in. Guided by Michelle Weber ( Staff, King of States) and chivied along to get off our lazy spoonfed as**s by TimeThief (Volunteer, One Cool Site) & with RootJosh (Staff, Evilphotoeye) chipping in as well.

The cynic was left muttering in the dark corners of my blog.

I met others who were navigating in the tricky blogosphere waters! Kindered spirits all… as we shouted encouragements while learning how not to crash into the ‘The Great Quitters Barrier Reef’.

And tons of others ( folks you ALL were awesome…I’d put everyone here but the ‘Impossibly Long List Shoals’ seem around the turn!! ). Today we have all completed 30 days learning the craft of blogging…  Friends, fellow bloggers… Thank you! You’ve all been beacons of hope and encouragement.  You inspire me as I learn new things to photograph, write and network about. Lets continue this sharing and caring…be seeing you all around!

P.S. Shot of the Lighthouse at the Cape Of Good Hope, South Africa. The Daily Post asked for an SOS…I choose this beacon of hope to wayfarers. Also…This post is a part of Write Over the Weekend, an initiative for Indian Bloggers by BlogAdda.

  6. well I am truly glad that I crossed blog paths with you – and thanks for adding “likes” to some of my posts – I like your pansy gravatar. Are you quitting blogging? I hope not.

anyhow, I really love the simple way your described different DAYS (on your about page)
“Some good, some bad and some great!”

    well said, well said!

    • WHATEVER gave you the idea I was quitting?? I just started!….hmm..not all the nostalgic roundup stuff on the post was it?? And your posts are sure interesting…

      • Thanks – I just read the post wrong. and whew, glad you are just beginning – I am not sure where I am at – I am about 7 months into the blogosphere at word press, which is my first “personal” take on a blog – and it is more fun than I expected. And the biggest reason is because of the other blogs we network with (and thanks for the compliment). Have a great rest of the weekend – oh and – Go Broncos – ha ha – jk….
